BRIEF HISTORY OF SAMORA MACHEL - MOZAMBIQUE

  • Samora was born on the 29th day of September in 1933. • Samora was from Gaza province in the southern part of Mozambique • Portuguese arrived in Mozambique in 1501. • In the 1930’s they decided to bring settlers from Portugal to oversee farming, to produce raw materials for European Manufacturers. • Samora parents were forced to grow cotton instead of food crop • He was sent to a school run by Catholic • When he was still a teenager his parents were kicked out of their land which was given to Portuguese settlers. • Samora decline the missionary offer to send him to seminary school instead he chose Nursing few professions which were open for blacks. • Samora was unable to secure the fees to complete formal training at the Miguel Bombarda Hospital in Lourenco Marques (today Maputo), he got a job working as an aide in the hospital and earned enough to continue his education at night school. • While working as a nurse he found out that white nurses were paid more than black nurse...

Nyankol started recording four songs in Dinka in 1960s and that was her first appearance in music Industry with her friend Anok who later killed in bloodshed by Sudanese government. “She was a freedom fighter using her music talent to educate people of South Sudan politically and culturally as early as 1960s. She first recorded her first song in Radio Juba and Omdurman in Khartoum. Her songs became popular revolutionary’s songs in SPLA frontlines in southern Sudan. She is educated both Arabic and English before being taken to Canada by Late Dr. John Garang. She has a beautiful voice with song title” why Abyei Left out”?
